It’s no exaggeration to say that J motion’s founder, Jonathan Staples, has been a bit of an ad junkie over the years – whether watching them or appearing in them (as “Mr Voiceover”)! Here he shares a couple of long-standing favourites…

As a kid growing up in the ’70s, the sight of the Hovis delivery boy free-wheeling down Gold Hill in Shaftsbury had a profound impact on me – the discovery that you could be whisked away to another time and place in just 30 seconds.

When Hovis came to mark their anniversary, they took the concept a whole step further. I love the scale and vision of this gem, showing how the product has been with us from the time of the Titanic through to the Millennium celebrations and beyond. We can only dream of working with this kind of budget at J motion!

Talking of scale, T mobile went even further by organising this spectacular amid the commuters at London Bridge station. I love the way the crowds – and the viewer – can’t tell who’s in on the joke and who just gets swept up in the experience. This has to be the ultimate commercial production with an ad that had its own mini ad campaign and became an appointment to view event when it was first aired. There’s even a “making of” video which reveals just how much effort went in to creating this masterpiece…
