The Islamia Schools were founded by Yusef Islam, the British singer-songwriter, humanitarian, and education philanthropist formerly known as Cat Stevens. Islamia Primary School opened its doors in north-west London in 1983, followed by Islamia Girl’s School in 1989 and Brondesbury College for Boys in 1996 offering an independent secondary education.
We were approached by Islamia to create a multi-module project – a promotional video for each of the two secondary schools, together with a single 30-second TV advert. Working in partnership with the team at Islamia, we ensured an efficient filming schedule to maximise the value of our footage. The idea was to benefit from the set-up time required for a selection of scenes in the promotional videos to also create the TV commercial.
Our 2 days of filming were split equally between girls and boys with a selection of students, staff, parents and former pupils interviewed to share their personal experience. The result is a powerful testimony of the high quality of education offered by Islamia Schools and an insight into the values and ethos that form the basis of that success.
It was a great pleasure to work with the J motion team for our schools. Their approach was very professional as they delivered on time with absolute precision. We were impressed with the ‘wild card’ idea they introduced for our TV advert as it suited us very well and was the element that received the most compliments. We look forward to creating future projects with them.
